What are the best cities in Mexico to live for an American? |
Travel Info Okay, so I've been scouring the Net and picking on friends' brains to find out about Mexicali, Tijuana and Mexico City. However, I'm still undecided and need some practical (experience-based, not prejudice-based!) advice and pointers on the best places (cities, towns) to live in Mexico for an American. Also, I'd like to have a grounded idea on cost of living (rent, food, etc.), plus availability of Internet broadband in your city of choice (I need the latter because of my freelance work as a translator). Last, but not least, I'd like to know the requirements for renting an apartment (furnished, unfurnished) in Mexico. Travel Tips You can look most of that stuff on the net. Broadband is readily avaliable in the bigger cities. Its cheaper to live but not as much as you might think in the bigger cities like Mexico. Best cities would be Guadalajara, Monterrey (both have large American communities) and Mexico City which has a large international community. Smaller centers with large foreign and/or Ammerican communities would be San Miguel Allende, Ajijic, Chapala, Cuernavaca and Guanajuato. |
