Travel Info Is Mexico city the big est city? Travel Tips I have no idea why people even bother to differentiate between city boundary and metropolitan area. The metropolitan area is what you have to deal with when you visit or live in a city, its ALL that counts! Mexico City WAS the largest city on Earth 20 years ago, however since the earthquake of 1985, it has hardly grown at all. Perhaps 20 million to 22. Such cities as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Queretero, Leon, Pachuca, etc., on the other hand, are growing like weeds 100% + in 20 years. I for one am quite pleased NOT to live in the "Biggest City in the World" in fact it it shrank down to 10-15 million, nobody would be happier than I! (One HUGE problem for the future is that there is a growing net of exploding "suburban" towns in Mexico State about a hour's drive west, north and east of Mexico City. When all that grows together, well, definitely time to move.........) |
