When is the off season in Mexico? |
Travel Info I am looking to travel to Mexico city and then to Peru does anyone have any reccomendations fo rbest times to travel, perferably when is the off season or cheapest time to go? Travel Tips The main "high" seasons in Mexico are: the week before Christmas right through to Jan. 6th. (the kids here go back to school usually just after Los Reyes, the 6th.) from a week before Easter Week right through till one week after. Easter (or Semana Santa) is the MAJOR Mexican vacation time of the year, while its not like 20-30 years ago when almost the entire nation took a week's vacation at the same time, EVERY hotel was packed and sleeping bags covered every beach in the whole country, it is still bad, hotels are almost all full and at 2-3 times the regular prices....... (this will often depend, you can sometimes find better prices the week AFTER Easter) July and August when the kids are out of school, (this is not HIGH high season, but there will be less specials during this time.) - any time the 15-16th of September falls near a weekend, it will be very bad. This is Mexico's Independence Day and just a great time to be on vacation with the family! (This is a fantastic time to visit Mexico, but won't be cheap!) The lowest seasons will be just after September 16th till Christmas (the weather often really sucks, rain storms and hurricanes...) The months before and after Easter are also considered very "low" seasons as well. (If you are coming to Mexico City, there are not the same high and low seasons. Its a huge city and while you may find better bargains in the low season, not like the tourist resorts. One major difference is Semana Santa (Easter Week) 50% of the city leaves on vacation, the city is practically deserted. It is one of the best times of the year to visit and avoid traffic and crowds!) |
