No the pyramides are outside the city. They are in a place called Teotihuacan. depending on the area that you are in Mexico city it will take some time to get there because of the trafic. I live in Texcoco wich is about 15 Min from the Pyramides.

used to be. Mexico city is built on an old city that was there before the spanish invaded and took over.
now the closest is 50 miles south.
The pyramids of Teotihuacan are 25 miles northeast of Mexico City.

You can also visit ruins of the Templo Mayor in the downtown Zocalo area.
