I'm freaking out about moving to Miami!!? |
Travel Info I leave for Miami in less than three days. I'll be going to college there (Miami International University of Art & Design). I've heard all this crap from everyone and it's making me a nervous wreck. I'm not a party girl type and I'm not really "street smart." I'm so worried about the crime and the traffic, especially since I've just started driving. Am I getting all nervous for no reason? Or do I have good reason to feel this way? Travel Tips I lived in Miami for two years. It's good to have some apprehension. It just means you'll be more watchful of your surroundings. When downtown, never travel alone. Not that Miami is a bad place to walk, but that's common sense. In school try to find some local students that have knowledge of the area and can give you feedback of where to go, how to get there. Just take it slow for starters if you are nervous. I spent most of my time on the beaches, usually Key Biscayne or Hollywood areas. The water is aqua, the sand very white. You'll soon unwind under the sun and you'll see that everything will be all right. You don't have to be a party girl to enjoy yourself on the beaches, too. Again, the main rule is don't go out alone until you feel self-assured about your surroundings and how you can handle them. Have fun in Miami, it's an interesting place. Others you'll be fine. After a few weeks, you'll probably be fine. It's normal to feel that way, just try to focus on the good. Your anxiety is quite common. You're moving into unknown territory. You should maintain a high state of awareness and an open mind. There's so many different cultures in Miami and you should look at that as an opportunity to learn some neat things. Most people don't want to leave once they've moved there, so who knows, you may become a Miamian. Have fun and good luck. Hung in the you will be fine, considering that you are not a party animal. I think you do have a reason to feel this way! I mean your environment and things you are used to are definitely going to change and I personally would be nervous too. Especially in Florida with hurricanes hitting that state all the time it would get me very scared and I would certainly not attend college there or live there! Sorry I don't mean to get you more nervous but that's just my opinion. But you never know maybe it will turn out to be a great experience for you. Good Luck. Don't get all worked up give it a few days I grantee that you will makes friends. It is after all a Art school most of those people are friendly. They will show you the ropes where to go and where not to go. Take it as it comes and live life to it's fullest it is a New Year. |
