How to get to Homestead General Airport from Miami?

I'm thinking of going Skydiving while in Miami, but it's at Homestead General Airport. How far is it, and what's the best way to get there?

Homestead is about 30 mi. south of downtown Miami on US-1. The airport is a couple of miles west of US-1. It is actually rather easy to get to Homestead itself by public transport, (Metro-rail to Dadeland South terminal; from there pick up the Homestead/Fla. City express bus. . You can get a transfer when you buy the metro-rail ticket for fifty cents so the trip will cost only $2.00 each way. ) But . . . you'll need transport to metro-rail then you'll need a cab to get to the airport from downtown Homestead & they're rather scarce down there. Maybe the jump school will pick you up.
