Hmmm. I've seen numbers of tourists on the beach estivating, but the dolphins are still active. Nor is there any record of them hibernating. Pretty hard to snooze the winter away when you're under water, and dolphins are air-breathers.
No--- they do not hibernate. And they don't migrate, either, like whales etc. I have no idea what 'estivate' means...
But here's an interesting thing about dolphins--- they sleep with their eyes open and swim as they sleep. Often if a pod comes in contact with a boat, the dolphins will track the boat and swim along side of it--- but while they are actually sleeping. I guess it keeps them from running into stuff. How's that for adaptation!
