My husband and I want to relocate to Miami? |
Travel Info We are a white couple in our early 30's both in the salon/spa business, which area should we look at moving to that would suit us best? Travel Tips Depending on what your income is a few nice neighborhoods: Aventura Bal Harbour Coral Gables Pinecrest Just to name a few. If you plan on renting (which I would suggest because you won't have to deal with the rise in property taxes), the area around Dadeland Mall is fairly reasonable and right next door to major commuting lines and roads. Also it's a very quiet neighborhood, the hustle and bustle of the city right around the corner, but it's nice when you want to relax. Aventura was pretty much explained already. Coral Gables is Classic Miami. It's an older part of the city with nice 1920 style bungalows, but also known to be a little expensive. A few areas to avoid: Overtown Brownsville Opa Locka Hialeah They have also been dubbed "ghetto" and have higher crime rates than other areas. They can be intimidating. From personal experience though, I would suggest staying closer to where you work. Rush hour traffic jams can be horrendous and avoiding the hours worth of traffic in the morning is worth spending a little extra to be closer to work. When I first came to Miami, I had a 3 hour commute in bumper to bumper traffic every morning and every evening. I learned my lesson and moved to a condo 1/2 a block from work. Source(s): Experience Other Travel Tips Bella sweetie we are "white couple so what" who cares its Miami...If you do not like diversity and diffrent cultures stay away...I will admit that spanish will be helpful anyways consider Aventura,or Hallandale Beach (in Broward County),Hollywood,Pembroke Pines..Broward county is next to Miami (Broward is North of Miami)...go to apartments.com and see the diffrent areas... Bal Harbor is pricy but, might be good for you, Bayside in Downtown is very trendy, South Miami is still growing, North Miami West Miramar is up and coming, but there is a "Living Waters" spa there already, If you speak Spanish or have Spanish speaking employees, pretty much anywhere - But stay away from Carol City, East Miramar, Pembroke Park and Hallandale. Not much money there. Just my opinion. i have lived all thru florida and other then a vacation i would never live there again it is FULL of CRIME and not just crime but SEVERE VIOLENT CRIMES please find somewhere else to go actually the dallas area is booming for making money i have read the other answers you received before mine and they were accurate for the most part i was in business my self all thru the state of florida even got married there but in kissimmee it is not a good place stay safe stay away PLEASE been there done that and ran away in fear I live in South Florida and love to visit Miami, but would never move there. If you can't speak Spanish you will have a hard time adapting to the city. Needless to say, if you still have your sights on the Miami area the best places I would recommend are: Aventura Coral Gables Pembroke Pines you might also want to consider other places in Broward County (just north of Miami-Dade county) |
