Travel Info Why are Miami Beach's sidewalks Pink? Noone seems to know, even in Miami.? Travel Tips Everything is Seafoam, Aqua, or Coral... Pink is not the correct color! Everything in Florida seems to be these colors... It's kinda like people in Kentucky w/o teeth! Just the way things are... Wouldn't be Miami w/o Seafoam, Aqua, and Coral AS MUCH AS it wouldn't be Kentucky w/People having all of their teeth!!! Others They are not actually a pink, but rather it was supposed to look like beach sand, but the sun faded the original color to what looks like pink now. I remember seeing on the news that the City of Miami Beach was thinking about bleaching the side walks along the beach to its original color again, but that was a couple of years ago and nothing has happened since. I don't know why but they have been that way since 1937 according to an article I read Because they add red pigment to the mix. Why? Because someone thought it looked nice against green grass, shrubs, etc. I agree. Because red is the complementary color to green, it tends to make green look greener. To go with the beachy decor style |
