How long does it take to drive from San Jose, California to Miami, FL with 3 drivers? |
Travel Info I've heard it takes one hole day to drive through Texas so I am just wondering how long would it take for the hole trip? mapquest says 44 hours but I am a little skeptical. Travel Tips Map services use an average 55/65 mph or so. Usually they do not account for stops, current construction detours, etc. A map program (like Microsoft's Street & Trips) would be a little more accurate as you can modify your speeds, stops, etc. Nobody does the speed limit ... at least not here in Florida. 55 is really 80, 65 is 90, so on and so forth. A lot depends on what time you hit certain cities, how much construction is on the particular roads your using, accidents, etc. It's all guess work. There's days you can rip through South Florida on I-95 or the Turnpike at 90-110+ mph during rush hour. Other days you're crawling for what seems like endless miles because of accidents. Everyone has to rubberneck in this hellhole. Like they've never seen an accident before .... sheesh. I've driven in many. many states and it seems like none are as bad as here. 44 hours sounds close. 3 1/2 days or so. Source(s): Experience. Other Travel Tips Your trip is 3000 miles long if you average 70 miles per hour your total driving time will be a little more than 42 hours figure in some planned stops for fuel, food and changing drivers it probably will take 48 hours Given breaks to eat, refuel and let the car rest... 3 days is about the average it takes if you are in a rush to get across country. You can do it in less if you really want to. Make sure your car is up for the long trip before being pushed that hard.... oil change, check the tires and breaks before you go kind of thing. Nonstop would take 3days. i have taken that trip from sf to miami with 1 other person and it took us almost 3 days, but we made stops and were in no hurry. Technically, if all you did was stop to get gas and use the bathroom and each person drove 10-12 hours, it would take no more than 2 days. But if you wanted to stop and get a good nights sleep like we did, the most it will take you is 3 days. Life is short, stop and enjoy yourself if you can and see some great things on the way. But if you are in a hurry, the fastest youll get here is 2 days. texas is 880 miles across I-10 if you speed through towns and you wont even know you were there unless you got stopped, van horn,ft. stockton,junction you will get stopped and probably searched by texas sate patrol, they do not play. They love people from california! |
