Cheap!HMMM! the cheapest 2br I can imagine in a safe area might 800-900 a month. www.craigslist.com might be a good bet! Others Move to a suburb such as Davie, Weston, west Plantation. As I've mentioned several times in here, there is a critical shortage here in affordabe housing. I'm paying $1375 for a small 3br house (under 1000 sq feet) in a no frills neighborhood. If I were you, I would look at sunsentinel.com and research before you decide anything. I would definitely research the individual cities around Ft. Lauderdale before making a move. Born in Ft. Lauderdale and area resident -lifelong. Safe and Cheap doesn't go together in South FL. Contact a good experienced travel agency... they are millions of hotels there... so I can recommend lots of places but I have no idea about where you like to stay there.. Then there's the air conditioning!!! Check-out Inverrary Gardens (among Commercial Blvd, Oakland Park Blvd, and University Drive)... I lived there for two years. Not too bad... Rent was near $750 and the electric bill was easily $200 (from June through November). Jackie Gleason used to own all of the property (golf courses, condos, and apartments) at Inverrary...
