Best public MIAMI BEACH.?

Travel Info
I will arrive in Miami on may 11th. I will be there for one night and would like to spend all day on a public beach without a hotel. What beaches are there that they are open all night, close to food, clear blue water. How late is the beach open?

Travel Tips
Southbeach and it NEVER closes..plus be prepared to see topless woman...and lots of g-strings...lol...You can eat right there on the strip..it should cost more then 30 to get there by taxi...Dont forget the suncream~It will be pretty warm~ Source(s): Life in South Florida 20 years~
Other Travel Tips
I just know that South Beach has nice beaches and there are public access areas, or there were when I was there several years ago.

I stayed in a hostel that had a lot of European students in it a few blocks off the beach. I got a room with a shared bath. It was very sparse and not very nice, but it was very cheap and near the beach.
If you mean a beach that does not have hotels around, there are none on South Beach, public or private. Try the 79th Street area or Haulover Beach, which would be around 100th Street--if there were an 100th Street. For orientation, South Beach begins a block south of 1st Street, so, depending upon where you're staying, you'll probably be traveling some.

Here's an alternative: Crandon Park Beach on Key Biscayne is, essentially, the barrier island immediately south of Miami Beach, so it's the one that resembles it best. But, not a hotel in sight. There are enough commercial areas, however, away from the park-like beach.

Problem is, it's roundabout to get to, as you'll see on the map. Also, it's not exactly "The Scene". More family oriented. For example, anything topless would be a wardrobe malfunction and, therefore, fleeting. If you go, once you're on the causeway, you'll see a sign for Virginia Beach on the left. During segregation, Virginia Beach was the Black beach of Miami.

Getting back to Miami Beach, Ocean Drive--about 1 and 1/4 miles long--is the beach road and hotel row for South Beach. All of the beach is public, except for the extreme northern tip. The water begins 300 to 600 feet from the hotels. So, while you can look west and see them nearby, it's not like they are right on top of you. You feel some space from them.

The Versace mansion is at 11th Street. There is no other building like it around for miles.

Ocean Drive ends at 15th Street. If you go one short block west, then one long block north, you'll come to Lincoln Road. Turn left and the famous outdoor mall part begins in one block.

If you go to the extreme southern end of Ocean Drive--Biscayne Street [I think its now called South Point Drive], a block below 1st Street--that's the original surfer beach for Miami. It goes all the way to the jetties, which are neat to climb past the paved top, but be real careful. Have fun!!
