Travel Tips Miami-Dade County (formerly known as Dade County) is a county located in the southeastern part of the state of Florida. The county was named after Major Francis L. Dade, a soldier killed in 1835 in the Second Seminole War, at what has since been named the Dade Battlefield Others Name of the county; Dade county FL To walk unsteadily, as a child in leading strings, or just learning to walk; to move slowly I believe it is a slang for the county sheriff's Miami is in Dade County- It was named for Major Francis Langhorme Dade famed leader in The Second Seminole Indian War. As others have said, it was the name of the county inn which the city of Miami is located until a few yeers ago when its name was changed to "Miami-Dade." It is Miami Dade County.......it is a county for the cities that is in south florida like miami, miami gardens, miami shores, north miami, north miami beach, coral gables, miami lakes, homestead, hialeah, kendalle, south miami, sweet water, south beach, key biscayne, and etc......
