Things to do in Ft.Lauderdale area? |
Travel Info My husband and our 2 sons ages 3 and 9 are going to Ft. Lauderdale on vacation this summer. What is there to do besides go to the beach? Travel Tips FtL is basically beach, boats & golf. Sawgrass Mills is one of America's largest Malls & has a a kid oriented attraction called Wannado City. You'll find Hollywood Beach with its Broadwalk will be more fun for the kids than FtL. Trips to Parrot Jungle & Seaquarium in Miami is good or kids. Everglades National Park is definitely worth seeing. Its an all day trip, even if you start very early. Take sunscreen & mosquito repellant & bottled water for the kids. If that's too much, you can get a taste of the Glades at the Miccosukee reservation (not the gambling casino part, a few miles west of there) where you can get airboat rides thru the Glades & see some gators. Others go on a cruise... lol and if you don like that drive down to miami and go on a cruise check out cafe vico. it's a fabulous italian restaurant. it'll be well worth the visit. other than that, the beach is the main attraction. There are some great things to do in Ft Lauderdale besides the beach. There is the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood nearby. There's the Dania Jai Lai palace. There are numerous fishing charters that are child friendly. There's an amusement park on I-95 near Sheridan Blvd. Las Olas Blvd in Downtown Ft Lauderdale is a great place for shopping and dining. And then there's the beach, which is very clean, and not so crowded in the summer months. You will experience a daily thunder boomer, but they usually pass through around 4-6 PM and only last an hour or less. day time ............the beach evening time......... leave the kids in the hotel and go to parting with a bunch of gorgeous women. |
