Travel Info I am going to be in Miami for Memorial Day Weekend. What is fun & interesting to do there during that time? Travel Tips Mem Day weekend on SoBe is an event known as "Urban Music Weekend," formerly "Hip Hop" weekend. It is absolutely jammed with Hip Hoppers, rockers, gangsters, bikers, etc. It is the weekend when all the residents leave for other parts. Last year the MB Police made some 850 arrests that weekend. So it will be interesting. You've been warned. Others I was in Miami a couple of months ago. It was my second time, I would suggest going to South Beach and renting some scooters, this is a very exciting and cheap way to see the city (alot of locals drive scooters so you will fit right in) Visit www.miamibeachfl.gov you can see what events will be going on while you are there and get a good idea of what you want to do. Have fun! P.S drive carefully, Miami was just voted the worst city to drive in ( I have seen drivers almost run over pedestrians in a mall parking lot!) Personal experience I went last year.. its CROWDED...nowhere to park at the beach!! All the meters are full, and parking near houses is FULL.. garage was like $30, and at night if u want to go clubbin.. dont take 395 (the bridge that passes the cruise ships) or you will be sitting there for 2 hours (but it was fun tho!) and get there on south beach early or you wont have a place to park.. leave like 9pm and go out there cuz we left at 1am and it was PACKED on the bridge it u really want to have fun get there EARLY and bring alot of friends.. Miami for Memorial Weekend can be a blast- so much is going on -Hip Hop weekend being the biggest event. Parking can be treacherous for south beach(but of course the earlier the better and pay attention to the residential tow away zones) I got lucky down there with meter parking (and paying for 2 hrs when I was there for like 5 or 6) But you gotta judge for yourself the towtruck and ticket cop presence. You'll have fun- Miami is the only paradise in the contiguous US the most important thing is: have the hotel reservation pay by now. do not make plan,once You get there, will be none stop fun. |
