What do you hate about Miami, Florida? |
Travel Info What do you hate about Miami, Florida? Travel Tips That it resides within the continental United States yet the unofficial language is Spanish. Don't jump to conclusions and think I mean the people that speak Spanish. I'm all for legal immigration and welcome new people. The problem is, we're the only country in the world that doesn't have the heart to stand up and say when enough is enough. This country was established in English, yet we don't have the strength to stand up and say "If you wish to live here, to enjoy our freedoms, benefit from our economy, then you must adapt to our country and learn our language." Imagine going to any country outside of the U.S. and telling their governing body that they should teach your language in schools because the children they brought with them can't understand the native language. They would laugh in your face, tell you "tough sxxt!", and if you want to make it you will adapt. We're so concerned about each and every specific minority group that we've lost sight of the greater good of the nation, and that saddens me. I could go on about how we as Americans are letting our heritage slip through our hands, but it won't do any good. Miami is just the beginning. Others I lived in Miami for about 2 years and I HATE that city! Not only are people extremely rude (most of them are cubans) but when you go into a store they greet you in Spanish! Now, I speak Spanish, I am Argentinean and obviously speak better Spanish than English, but I think it's OUTRAGEOUS to be talked to in Spanish in a store in a country that speaks English! To make matters even worse, I always responded in English to whatever they would say and they would tell me "Im sorry, I don't speak English". What are you doing running a store then??????? Besides that, I absolutely dread the weather. What is it with the constant rain in Summer?? The heat is unberable, the rain is annoying and it's even worse when you are on the highway and you get rain on a specific part of the road and total dryness on the other! Another thing I dislike is the enormous distances: everything is extremely spread out. I live in Los Angeles now and I laugh at people when they say things are spread out here, NO WAY! They've never been to Miami! Distances are a great deal to me because I don't drive, so I depend on public transportation. To get to my job in Miami I had to take two buses, if I missed one I had to wait 40 minutes for the next one, that means being 1.30 hs late for work (if I missed one then I missed the second), and as ironical as it might sound, a co-worker would drive me home after work and it would only take 15 minutes! Besides all that, people dress hideously and there's a great deal of poverty (most population are illegal immigrants). The only thing I like about Miami is that things are pretty cheap and cuban coffee is pretty good :) The native language? I am amrerican Indian,English is the British language, and You have to celebrate the fourth of July...... I had learn to speak(not need to,but I did) 6 different European languages,I have travels a lot (yes, including the Brithsh one) if You love the British language, why You don't live in the U.K. I am glad and proud ,that in Miami, the (my) community speak 27 different language every single day. that is fantastic and beautiful. L.A. better than Miami? ooow!!! please. (most of the working people in LA drive for a couple of hours every day ,to work) I love Miami!!!!! finaly,Your question is outreageous.Where You from.? Love the area, traffic, parking........
