I'm going to Key West soon and would like to stop at places Jimmy Buffett references...? |
Travel Info in his songs. I'm going to be going from Nashville to Key West, so that would be 75 south to 95 south and US 1 down... I know of a few places like in the song, "Conky Tonkin'", there are many references and one is the Dadeland Mall in Miami... I'm going to stop there for a photo opp. Any other ideas!!!? Thanks! Travel Tips Ok, here is the deal for places you want to go for the Buffett Experiance. Stop at Margaritaville, if anything just to check out some of the photos on the wall. Grab a drink at Captain Tony's (inpiration for the song "Last Mango in Paris"), check out sunset at Mallory Square (inspiration for "Tin Cup Chalice"), Shrimp Boat Sound Studio is located on the water front, it is a simple white building with No Trespassing signs all over it. This is where he records most of his albums. OK, you need to hit Louie's Backyard, a definate Buffett hang-out. Also cruise down Caroline Street ("Woman Going Crazy on Caroline Street") and pop into Fausto's for a chocolate milk ("My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink, and I Don't Love Jesus" & "The Peanut Butter Conspiracy"). "Cheeseburger in Paradise" was inspired by a place in the Bahamas not Key West. Another thing to do is grab a copy of "Jimmy Buffett: The Key West Years" by Tom Corcran, that should give you more info and I think they even show you where his house was down there. Have fun! Others Margarittaville on Duval St. Your going to have to stop at margaritaville in Key West! Always a Jimmy Buffet song Playing and a great atmosphere!! I'm jealous! I just got back from Key West two weeks ago! You're gonna love it! Definitely see Margaritaville, and there's a bar & grill that is said to have been JB's inspiration for the song "Cheeseburger in Paradise". I don't remember which restaurant it is, but I'll try to remember to look it up tonight and post again tomorrow. There's also a place that is not advertised on any tourist info, but it's JB's "secret" recording studio in Key West (or so said my tour guide). It's between the Conch Republic Bar & Grill and Schooner's Wharf (bar). Apparently, it was a fishing warehouse many years ago and JB turned it into a recording studio. No signs on the building, and it looks like a warehouse from the outside. Wish I were going with you! Have a blast! Hi, I love Key West! It is Great! I would love to live there! Anyhow there are so many places to stop for photo ops. Such as Coral Castle, Largo, Tiki Bar, Old Flagler Rail and these are before you get to Key West! Let me know how the trip went! |
