Moving to florida in 4months, any advice? |
Travel Info Ive been to florida a few times, i know the weather and enjoy it. planning on moving to the boca raton area the end of september and was wondering if their is any advice people can share, thanks. Travel Tips just a reminder you have 30 days to register your car and get your license.. do not try to wait a year to get it (like me) without getting caught! Get insurance on your house to cover for hurricane damages. I hear its expensive.. and especially down there Others Good luck in Florida, remember to get flood insurance. BUT NOT FROM STATE FARM. They screwed a lot of people over during Hurricane Katrina and there is supposed to be more hurricanes according to scientists. Yeah, don't move to Boca. Overpriced, miserable traffic, unfriendly people, lot of people trying to keep up with the Joneses. If you're going to buy, be prepared for high insurance costs and homeowner's taxes. If you go condo, make sure to check HOA fees. They are getting ridiculous. If you live within 8 miles of the ocean, you can only get citizens insurance. No other company will write you. If you're coming for work, try to live somewhere where you can avoid I95 and be near the turnpike. Traffic is fine in the summer but horrible in the winter when the snowbird's arrive. if you plan to buy down there, I can refer you to a realtor...I am a broker. wear sunblock all the time Good luck with hurricane season leave your snow jacket there cause Miami can get hot, we have do have hurricanes time for time, don't expect a white Christmas and try not to get a house close water once hurricane come u must evacuate and those house always suffer more and have high insurance. |
