Can someone tell me and describe the neighborhoods of Miami? |
Travel Info Like; Miami Beach Midtown South Beach Overtown Flagami West flangler Model City Upper East Side, etc....... Travel Tips Miami Beach: Separate island and city. Very varied. SE is for tourists. SW is mixed, relatively young. Mid beach middle class with heavy orthodix Jewish & Hasidic presence. North Beach, mixed middle class. On the Biscayne Bay & Indian River waterfronts: Giant homes populated by entertainment & sports stars, retired south american dictators, & the like. Midtown: NE of downtown Miami, mixed latino, black & Puerto Rican working class. South Beach: See Miami Beach above. Overtown: Downtown historic black district. Flagami: West of Miami (West of 67th Ave along Flagler & SW 8th ST. Continuation of Little Havana. All Latin West flagler: See Flagami. Model City: Black neigborhood North of Overtown. Poor, high crime. This is where the public housing projects were built in the 60's. Upper East Side, etc. Nothing referred to by that name. NE Miami is a mixed residential area. CLose in (below 36 St.) new highrise boom area. Further North (above 36 St) now gentrifying. Way North are Miami Shores, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura. Miami Shores: Rich & white old Miami. North Miami: Mixed residential; large number of Haitians. NMB & Aventura: Jewish Retirees. Wynwood: Black residential; North of Allapattah allapattah: Black residential south of Wynwood. Coral way: A street running from Biscayne Bay west to western suburbs. Mostrly latin thru most of its run. Coconut grove: Once Miami's art & fun district. All the fun's being driven out by residential condos. White Grove: Rich; Black Grove: Poor. |
