Is Leather car interior really bad to have in Miami? |
Travel Info I'm considering buying a car with leather interior, but I'm moving to Miami in July. Someone told me it would get really burning hot (like in California where it breaks 110 every summer), but I was thinking that Miami is more humid than hot. Has anyone had leather interior in the Florida area? Any advice? Thanks a lot! Travel Tips Miami is hot AND humid... We have an SUV with tan leather interior, and it's been about 2 years and the leather has become a bit hard on the edges and has small cracks... We've taken care of it the best we could, but I guess there really is no preventing leather from getting damaged (even is its just a little damage)... Also leather gets burning hot in hot weather, and freezing in cold temperature, and that gets annoying.. The choice is really up to you.. I say take a gamble and buy the car you want and go all out to reduce the amount of heat that enters your car (tinted windows, or those foil things you put on the front), and condition with leather cleaners as much as possible... there is also the choice of buying seat covers, but then whats the point of getting leather? Anyways, Good Luck =] Others cover your leather in the summer get seatcovers some really nice sheepskins! plus that will save wear and tear on them I had leather in Miami. After two years it was hard and starting to crack. I had tinted windows and conditioned the leather twice per month but it still got worn out by the sun. The UV index in Miami is much higher than other parts of the country. It also depends on the quality of leather the manufacturer is using. I had a 2003 Honda Accord EX V6. I would strongly consider cloth seats. They are also cooler to sit on. The leather seats in Miami get very hot 10 months out of the year. I have leather and haven't had a problem. But they are tan leather which don't get nearly as hot. If it's black leather I would definitely say no, if a lighter color then you are probably ok. I would make sure to have a sunshade and use it. Then you would be ok for sure. Leather is fine. Get a fine tint on your windows to keep out the sun. I have leather in my car and it is just fine. We are not burning hot here, feels really hot in August with the humidity but you will get use to it. We have a/c here... |
