I am taking a cruise of the carribean and I will spend 3 days in Miami before we leave? Where exactly is South beach where all the clubs are? I would like to know of a good place to stay that is close to everything...

Miami Beach is a city on a barrier island off the East coast of Miami connected by causeways & bridges. South Beach is the southern quarter or so of it. That's where most of the hotels & clubs are & its pretty much all within walking distance. It is reasonably close to the Port of Miami so a cab ride to the cruise port is not that expensive.

The best place to stay is the hollywood beach hotel in Hollywood fla.. it is on the coast road ( A1A) it goes all the way down to Miami beach.. which is about a thirty minute drive.. south beach is actually the beach, of the town, of Miami beach.. Not Miami.. stay in the hollywood area and here is why.. first it is the only open beach in south florida.. there are no hotels between the main street and the beach.. from Hollywood beach on south all the way to the port of Miami.. hotels line the beach.. all you see is buildings.. at Hollywood you see water and you can walk the length of it and enjoy all kinds of food and drink.. also you are near horse tracks, jai lai, and dog tracks.. you can get to miami in a short time and if you want to really enjoy yourself take a slow dirve down A1A ..you will be amazed at the number of things to do and see.. and then when you go back to your hotel.. you will be away from the total traffic madness at night.. spend the day in south beach and miami but get the heck out of there at night.. your stay will be a lot more fun.. if the hollywood beach hotel is full there is a howard johnsons and lots of other motels to stay in.. but if you want to step up in price.. the diplomat hotel in Hallandale is good as are any of the other 500 hotels along the beach.. before you book anything.. I strongly suggest that you look up Hollywood fla on line.. and contact the Hollywood hotel.. you will have a great stay.. and it is easy to get to the cruise liners at the port.. sooooo give Hollywood a shot.. have a good trip
Dont stay in Hollywood! That is not Miami that is Broward county. Hollywood is a suburb of Miami and it is a pain getting all the way down to Miami Beach from Hollywood especially during rush hour. It could take as long as 70minutes to drive the 22mile drive down to Miami from Hollywood. Miami Beach is where you want to be, that is where the nigh clubs are and some great beaches. South Beach has always been named in top ten beaches in the nation and world never hollywood beach. South Beach is an area between Ocean Drive to Washington Ave from 23rd street down to 5th street. This is were all the clubs are and many famous resturants. Now if you dont want to stay in Miami Beach and deal with the bumper to bumper traffic at 3am than stay in Downtown Miami or Bal Halbour Sheraton, but I dont reccomend statying far away in Hollywood or Ft. Lauderdale especially if you boat is going to be leaving the port of Miami. If you just want to stay in South Beach and Downtown Miami for the three days you wont even need to rent a car. But if you go anywhere else but those to places a car is nice to have. Also if you want a really nice beach go to Key Biscayne or take a day trip to some of the Northern Florida keys.
i agree with Steven and i can add that you must stay on ocean drive cause is near every club and restaurant and just in front of the beach.
I stayed at The Colony Hotel..is cheap and nice for 100 bucks you can stay in a small but nice room for two and you will be in the best location cause is in ocean and 9 th street.
