Where to live in South Flordia?

Travel Info
My husband just got a job transfer to Miramar. We currently live in LA and love it. I am not really looking forward to the move as I love where we currently live. Where would be a good place to live in the Miramar area? We are in our late 20's with no children. We would like to live in a safe area where there is lots to do and other young people to meet. We were thinking of Miami as that seems to be the hot spot? Any suggestions? Also, what is the average price of a house and or condo in Miami or miramar?

Travel Tips
Move to Miami, there are many apartments in Downtown Miami and since you will be working in Miramar you will go against traffic in your commute so it wont take that much time. Broward county is dull and boring, the only place I would suggest to live in is Ft. Lauderdale near the beach. But besides for that Broward county is a boring suburb of Miami. Downtown Miami is a nice area close to Miami Beach and a lot of young people are moving to that area. Miami Beach is always a nice place too but it is expensive but worth it if you have the money. If you don鈥檛 want to be right in the middle of the City in Miami or Miami Beach than try to find a place in a suburb of Miami called Aventura. It is in the north Area of the county and is nice. Homes in Miami cost a lot you will need at least $250,000 to buy a small home in some not so great neighborhoods, so unless you have a decent amount of money apartments/condo is what your going to have to live in if you want to live in Miami and Dade County.
Again if you want to live a city life with a diverse population and a good night life and lots of things to do you should live in Miami-Dade County from Downtown Miami and north of. I would recommend Coral Gables but the drive to work would be to far.
But what ever you do don鈥檛 move into Weston or many of those manufactured neighborhoods in West Broward County they are very suburbia and boring. Source(s): Miami resident.
Other Travel Tips
Unless you're into te club scene I wouldn't recommend paying the Miami prices. If you don't mind not living near the water look at Weston, Plantation or Doral. If you want to live near the water I would recommend Aventura or hallandale beach. It's not far from miramar, Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Gives you the option to find what places you like to hang out without too much of a drive. Though being from LA I doubt that driving bothers you much.
Normally I suggest people in So. Fla. live close to their work because commuting is so sucky. Miramar is a dull as dried mud blue collar suburb west of Hollywood/Ft. Lauderdale. So in this case I recommend you live in Ft. Lauderdale -- as close to the water as you can afford, or possibly Hollywood, and commute against the traffic to Miramar. I-595 will take you from just south of downtown FtL west against traffic very quickly. FtL is hanging over the detritus of the bursting of a huge real estate boom & there are literally hundreds -- maybe thousands -- of new condos for rent in very desirable areas of South Broward County.

I would not recommend living in Miami. Too far & rush hour traffic is impossible.

There are no "average" prices any more than there are "average" lengths of string. The lowest purchase price in Lauderdale is likely to be about $200,000 for a new studio or small 1 br condo in a middle class inland neighborhood. Or you could buy a new house on the water for $25 million. The closer to the Water & beach & the larger the unit; the more expensive.

For rentals you may find a desperate condo investor who'll let you get into a 1BR near the beach for a thousand a month. I have a client whose renting a place out for $400 less than his mortgage & maintenance.
move to weston, pembroke pines, or davie. they are the best cities - trust me, I know! pembroke pines is only about 10 minutes from miramar anyway :)
Ok well I will leave you the newpaper ad...No one has thought of that..You can see prices everywhere north and south of miami.. www.miamiherald.com or palmbeachpost.com and www.sunsentinel.com really depends where you want to live...By the way housing taxes here really stink so be prepared..Good Luck~
