Which are the best hotels to stay in South Beach that are walking distance to all the shopping and hot spots? |
Travel Info I am going on vacation to Miami in August and I have never been to South Beach therefore Im clueless as to which hotel to stay in. I am not planning on renting a car so I would like to know if anyone knows of any hotels in South Beach that are walking distance to restaurants, shops, and night clubs. I would appreciate all the help I can get! thanks ! Travel Tips Sarah O's advice on location is right on. Others The Delano is the only place I stay Well, how much are you spending? Hotels will run anywhre between $100-400 night casually, and yes, a lot more for the Delano. You might be careful not to stay on South Beach, but nearbay (i.e. Bayside and cab in). You can save more money over the stretch as the food, water, clubs are pricey. A mile a way can go a long way on your budget. South Beach is pricey, with the Delano at the top of that price list. It's overrated too. Hallways are dark, rooms not great, and just a lot of white everywhere. It's really not the end-all, be-all. If you're looking for something comfortable, and moderately priced, I have a few suggestions. Good thing you're coming in August- it's the low season. For reference, south beach is an area about 20 blocks wide, that covers the southernmost tip of Miami Beach. Any hotel you find with address between 1 and 1900 Collins Avenue, Washington Avenue or Ocean Drive is where you want to be. On the high end side, you can try Ritz Carlton South Beach, Loews Miami Beach, Royal Palm Miami Beach, South Beach Marriott, Regent South Beach, The Tides, Hotel Victor, The Delano, The National, Sagamore, Bentley Beach. All those are great. On the mid-range side, you can try Hotel Ocean, Park Central, The Hotel, Hotel Astor, Albion, Clinton, and DoubleTree Surfcomber. South Beach is great because everything is within walking or a short cab ride away. As for shopping, Lincoln Road is closed off to traffic for the most part, and features all outdoor shopping and dining. Other than that, there are a lot of great stores on Collins Avenue, between 5th and 10th Streets. Have a great time, and use www.gmcvb.com as a resource. I work for Miami to promote it as a tourist destination. You are so Lucky, i just came back from vacation from South Beach. Its so beautiful!!! We stayed at the Boulevard Hotel on Ocean Dr and it was the best decision ever! Its right in the middle of everything and cheap. We got a rate for $70 a night but usually runs around $89. The hotel is literally right in front of the beach. If you like to go out bar hopping then Wet Willies is right next to the hotel along with other bars right down the street. So i would def look into that hotel. The nightclubs that are always packed are on Washington St. Between 11th and 13th st. Also there is this bar that you pay $20 and you drink all you want until 4am and that's on 8th and Washington its called the Royal Bar. Mangos is another hot spot that's on Ocean Dr just a 2blocks from the hotel. where they have guys and girl dancing Salsa on top of the tables get there early cuz the later is gets the more expensive it gets and that's anywhere you go. The 3 hot clubs to go to is Club Mansion $20, Sobe Live $20 first hour is free for women to get in and drink, and Club Forge $40. You def wont need any transportation because everything is close by, and if you wanna go to downtown Miami then take the "C" Bus, it will take you right downtown and by the Bay Harbor Mall. Hope that info helps out a little, if you have any other questions let me know! Well how much are you willing to spend?? there are lotsa hotels on collins/ocean drive and washington avenue that are walking distance from everything (food, clubs, beach, lincoln road mall). And they're under $100. Dont expect it to be a luxury hotel and lots of them dont have their own parking lot. Go to uyahoo hotels, type in miami, florida and when the list comes up, click where it says what area u want to look for a hotel in and click south beach.. and there ya go. |
