What do you know about West Miami? |
Travel Info What is the quality of living there? Any general info, already googled it, but looking for people's experience or impressions. Thanks. Travel Tips The city of West Miami is a very nice place to live next to Coral Gables. It is centrally located with a great elementary school (I dont like the Middle School but that's just me because I'm very picky.) It's near Waterford Corporate Center (office area near the airport on Blue Lagoon Drive). You will be close to many Latin American branches of major corporations (IBM, Oracle, Johnson&Johson, Visa, Discovery Channel, etc.). Lots of work available in Coral Gables, too (legal, accounting, and architectural firms, etc.). West Miami is a safe and decent place to live. It's very family oriented with a few elderly Cubans and Americans still living here. Homes in West Miami aren't too expensive but if you are okay w/a fixer upper then you can find a decent place here. Property taxes are a killer, though. Not too many rentals in this area but you can find rentals in Coral Gables or the surrouding area. You can walk your dog at night without a care in the world. Miami is full of hispanics no matter where in Miami you live so who cares. Pretty soon you'll be having cafe con leche for breakfast and speeding down the hwy like everyone else. Miami is what you make of it. West Miami is a good choice. I live in the "infamous area" east of I-95 near the bay which is still a little rough around the edges. It's not for everyone and my relatives don't visit because they dont like driving through construction or the so-so neighborhoods. It's not "gentrified" enough for them. Believe me when I say West Miami is a really nice choice. Others It's no East Miami, I'll tell you that. West Miami, its a decent place, suburbs. It a very suburbia place to live. As someone said before it is no east Miami. But east Miami also has its high crime areas. But east Miami is the Miami people know. Miami Beach, Downtown etc.. all in the east side of teh county. Miami resident. I know its where there's a lot of Cubanos, other Latinos, and the first language is not English there It's the area around Southwest 8th Street/US 41 and Ludlam Road/Southwest 67th Avenue . At that intersection there is a sign saying Welcome to West Miami . Of course don't get West Miami confused with Western Dade County . Or Areas like Western Doral . I live in Miami, So this is officially an expert answer . |
