Im going to Montreal next week, What kind of things can I do there? |
Travel Info I'm gonna be there for 7 weeks, what are some fun things I can do? I'm 18 years old. Travel Tips Montreal in the summer is the city of festivals. The people are out and about all downtown, the bar terraces are open and filled. Women are looking their best (probably from being cooped up in winter parkas until early May!) and guys are showing off their cars and loud car stereos. Here are a few suggestions that may cater to a teenager or young man in their early 20s: 1) Tam-Tam drums on Mont Royal. 2) Montreal Fringe Festival 3) First People's Festival 4) Fireworks competition (every wednesday and saturday) 5) Montreal International Jazz Festival Concerts: - Maroon 5 - Blue Rodeo - Holly Cole - Nickelback - Harry Connick Jr. - Bob Dylan - Van Morrison The Montreal Mirror is the newspaper that circulates in our universities and colleges. You may want to check that out for some ideas. Source(s): http://www.go-montreal.com/attraction_ev... http://www.admission.com/html/home.htmi... http://www.montrealmirror.com/ Other Travel Tips Just an update - The fireworks competition is not EVERY wednesday and Saturday, but SELECTED Wednesday and Saturdays. the montreal festivals are great! too bad ur only coming next week, ur just missing the crescent street grand prix festival. the just for laughs fest english shows start july 12th. i recommend visiting the old port of montreal, there are beautiful terraces on place jaques-cartier and plenty of activities. shopping on and around st-catherine street. bars and terraces on crescent and prince arthur. going up on mount royal. biking/rollerblading on the lachine canal. la ronde amusement park. parc jean-drapeau. montreal also has a great nightlife: there are plenty of great clubs on st-laurent and crescent streets. i hope you enjoy your stay in montreal!! Ohhh boy! You're in for a treat!!! Montreal has so many festivals you won't be able to choose! IE: 1. Tam-Tams on Mount Royal (Ave du Parc) (Sundays) 2. Fireworks Festival (La Ronde, Wednesdays & Saturdays @ 10 PM) 3. La Ronde 4. The Jazz Festival 5. The Just for Laughs Festival 6. The Fringe Festival 7. The Film Festival 8. Francofolies 9. Bars in the downtown core. IF you're strapped for cash, I recommend McKibbon's (Bishop) on a Wednesday night it's open bar 5$ (chicks) 20$ (guys). Cheers also has cheap drinks on that night. Mad Hatter's (Crescent) is pretty wild Fridays & Saturdays and is really cheap, overall. 10. For other things and more details, I recommend you hit the metro and grab free copies of the Hour and the Mirror. (New issues every Thursday). They're pretty detailed about concerts/festivals/arts/etc...... so that's definitely your best bet. 11. Word. Of. Mouth. You'll meet alot of fab-u-lous people here and we're more than happy to point you in the right direction. After all, we live here. ;) PS: Forshame! You missed Grand Prix weekend! That's pretty wild. |
