Living in Montreal? |
Travel Info What regions are the nicest? Which neighbourhouds should one avoid? Is the McGill student ghetto a very noisy place? Travel Tips All depends if you want to live in the 'French' part or the 'English' part. The French are more concentrated in the east of the island, the English in the west. It's a good idea to avoid the Hochelaga area....not the safest of areas. I lived out by the Olympic Stadium. Not the greatest of areas, but it was in my price range. I also lived on the south shore. I would NOT recommend it. And yes, the ghetto is noisy...especially at the beginning of the school year. Source(s): Lived in Montreal for 3 years. Other Travel Tips hampstead and westmount are expensive but they are nicest. TMR is nice, NDG-CDN are ok and verdun isnt nice. But ile des soeur is nice. i live in montreal i want visit canada montreal i want visit canada montreal There is no real dangerous or slummy area in Montr茅al. McGill is located almost to downtown, so there are lots of restaurants, clubs, stores, etc. So it is about as noisy as - say - mid-Manhattan. Actually, if I were to move, I would go to the Point Charles district. Although historically a poor area it is gentrifying fast, with apartment buildings being rehabbed and new restaurants and shops opening. Served by both busses and the m茅tro it is also easily walkable (or bike ridable) to central downtown. |
