Vaction in Canada? |
Travel Info We have a 4 day weekend coming up and my husband and I would like to go to Canada while we have the chance. He is currently stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth New Hampshire. We want to go some place that we can drive to. We can feasibly go as far east as New Brunswick/Nova Scotia/PEI and as far west as Toronto and any where in between. What would you suggest? Where are the must see spots? What makes for the perfect Canadian getaway weekend? Travel Tips Moncton is awesome, it is the hub of the maritimes meaning it is central to all major points. Try Peggy's cove in Nova Scotia, also Halifax, Cape breton, Fundy National Park outside of Moncton. Also Shediac - has the best lobster and seafood- world famous- put it this way Tom Cruise, Dan Akroyd, Donald Trump and David Borianus have gone to Shediac for Lobster. My best friend works at a restaurant there and she has tons of pics of famous people who she says come every year as they say the east coast holds Canada's hidden gems. Tom Cruise actually requests seafood to be shipped from NS and NB every year. Kiefer Sutherland is often seen in the area as his daddy was born and raised in New Brunswick. His dad apparently still comes to visit every now and then. Hey even Stephen King heads done to get his seafood from the warf. Canada's Choclate town is in New Brunswick, St. Stephens. Ganong chocolates. YUMMY, now that beats Hershey any day. We have a chocolate festival in the summer. Also check out PEI, home of Anne of Green Gables and the best ice cream in North America. So fresh it is to die for. We tons of historical sites, ghost tours, lots of authentic Acadian, Irish,Scottish and Seafood cuisine. Beautiful shores, beaches and family vacation sites every where. the people here are amazing they are so nice. I have been many places in this wonderful country and the east coasters are the nicest people I have ever met. check out these sites http://www.saltscapes.com/ www.tourismnbcanada.com www.novascotia.com www.gov.pe.ca/visitorsguide Others If the weather is nice the Thousand Islands near Kingston Ont is absolutely beautiful. Niagara Falls, Algonquin Park, travel old Hy way #2 along the St Lauwrence River between Kingston and Montreal. Montreal of course, Quebec City is always a gem of course any of the Maritime Provinces hope this helps. Definitely Rocket has it correct. See Atlantic Canada. You will never forget it. |
