My partner and I are going to Montreal for a week and wanted to know some must see places? |
Travel Info We are staying in the gay villiage and want to know some must see places while we are in Montreal. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Travel Tips The cathedral is very impressive. I also liked the biosphere. Montreal is a nice and pleasant city but there are not many "must see places". If your麓re going for a week, I think it would really payoff to visit the old Quebec City (I think they call it Vieux Quebec). There are a lot of "must see places" there. And it麓s not so far away from Montreal. If you do go, make sure to have tea or something in the tea room of the Chateau de Frontenac in the afternoon and try to sit near the windows. The view of melting ice of the Saint Laurent river from up above is a sight you麓ll never forget. Others I currently live in Montreal, where I attend McGill University. Montreal is an awesome city, a blend of cultures, a blend of languages (French and English), a fashionable, hip city with lots going on. Go to the Old Port or old part of Montreal. Explore the old buildings (including the Notre Dame Cathedral) and walk around to shops and restaurants. There are lots of good museums including the Musee des Beaux Arts on Sherbrooke Street. The underground city is cool, especially during the winter when you don't want to keep bundling up to go outside. It's basically a series of large shopping malls and metro stations that are all connected undeground by tunnels. There are countless shops and restaurants down there and I'm sure you could spend days without surfacing. There's also lots of other cool places in Montreal. My favorite streets to walk around on in Spring/Summer/Fall are St. Laurent and St. Denis. They both have really posh, unique stores and great restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and culbs. Ste. Catherine Street is also cool. That's where the famous Club Super Sexe is! Definitely worth a visit! Botanic Garden is a very nice place to walk around. There's a butterfly event right now, which ends April 30th. I don't think there're lots of flowers right now. It's very nice in summer. |
