Has anyone been to Montr茅al? Details.? |
Travel Info I'm going for the summer, and have never been there, so any info would be nice. Is it fun, interesting, expensive, hot/cold, etc. Thanks Travel Tips Montreal is very humid and hot during the summer. Coffee shops with outside patios are very popular for this reason. I reccomend St-Denis street for those. The Mount-Royal is a nice place to hang out. There are big drum jams there every sunday. It is also the best place to hook up... My favorite neighborhood is the Plateau Mont-Royal (if you take the subway, called metro there, it is station Mont-Royal). A monthly bus/metro pass is about $60, and very useful to have. What else... Cinema du Parc plays repertoire movies, and has good prices. The food is amazing in Montreal. You can find just about any kind of food (tibetan, african, jamaican, hispanic, greek, etc...) and due to lots of competion in the restaurant buisness, the prices are pretty good. For amazing empanadas, go to La Chilenita on Roy and DeBullion, and for out-of-this-world vegetarian food, try Chu Chai on St-Denis and Rachel. They are as popular with non-vegetarian than with vegetarians. Aux Vivres on St-Lawrence (the Main) and Villeneuve has great vegan food. There are numerous bars and clubs, you'll have choice. One of the best thing to do in the summer is to go to the festivals. There is the jazz fest (internationally famous), the blues fest, the african fest, thepunk-rock fest, the Just for Laugh fest, and so on. And the best thing about those is that there are free shows all day long outside. The Old Port is nice ti visit, as well as the Botanical Garden. You should have fun in Montreal. I reccomend learning a bit of french, as it is the official language, but as most people know how to speak english, you should still do fine if you dont learn. Enjoy! Source(s): I am originally from Montreal Other Travel Tips Hello, I've been in Montr茅al last year in summer, the weather is really nice this time of the year, Montr茅al has the European taste in North America, the official language is french but almost everybody speaks English too. There a lot to see there, vieux Montr茅al, the port, l'hotel de ville, champ mars, le biosphere and of course you should not miss the Olympic park, the best way to move is using the metro, which you better purchase a week pass or a 3 days pass. I hope this would be usefull, Regards! party central! i'm from toronto, and when i usually go to montreal, it's only for a few days, so we always make sure to make the best of it... party, party, party! as for the city itself, honestly, nothing special. i like old montreal, because, like any city, it's always nice to see older buildings and stuff. but the main streets of montreal aren't that great. a lof of prostitution, homeless people, tons of strip joints and sex shops.. honestly, it's a pretty dirty... come to toronto... it's much nicer ;) No but i would like You should go for jazz fest. www.yescanada.com |
