If you're further north, take the 202 down St-Jean from Fairview. Costs about 2 dollars cash one-way, or if you can get a daypass (last I tried they were still hard to find) you can hop on and off the metro and go further afield. The 202 probably comes every 1/2 hour, the 211 every 10-20 minutes depending on the time of day. Takes about 1/2 an hour, unless there's traffic. (If you're going in rush hour, you might rather take the train--runs right along the same highway.)
