I plan to go to Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec for vacation, can someone tell me what to see in those places? |
Travel Info My family got 4 free tickets using Delta mileages, I want to make maximum uses, so I decide to travel from California to Montreal. But I really don't have much clue as to what are the must see in those area, can someone provide me info or links? Travel Tips Sounds like a great trip! Montreal - Visit the BIODOME which is next to the big Olympic Stadium. Its East of the city. Visit the "old Montreal" which is a small area of older houses, roads made of stones and very European looking. Visit the brewery. Montreal has great beer! Go "up north" which is about 2 hours from Montreal but easily done if you rent car. Go to Mont St-Sauveur, a ski mountain area but open all year round as it is a beautiful resort. A MUST EAT - its called a "poutine" pronounced "poot-een" its a bowl of home made french fries with a gravy sauce and topped with cheese. Its a must try! Very popular in the province of Quebec. Its fast food of course so you will find this yummy treat at restaurents such as "Mikes" or "La belle Province". A few tips - Montreal is a bilingual city but you will find some only speaking French. Learning a few words in French will help you get around and trying to speak French will be great if you want Montrealers to be friendly with you. - Out of all the seasons to go ... summer is great but busy with tourists but thats good too! - Fall is awesome as the trees have beautiful colors. Others A few more things! Find out about the Jazz Festival ( its in June or July usually) Its a great place to be ... its in the city and full of life! Montreal was in the lonely planet's blue list of 2006-2007 which is a definite place to visit! Enjoy visiting! Montreal is very nice and modern, with great restaurants and architecture. Quebec City has European-style defensive walls and castles, and excellent restaurants. Ottawa has the coolest museum, the Museum of Civilization (actually across the river in Hull). It's more of a tribal art gallery, with more ideas for tattoos to be found there than you can shake a stick at. Try: http://www.toutmontreal.com/english/egui... http://worldfacts.us/canada-ottawa.htm... http://www.500nations.com/quebec_places.... Montreal: Mont Royale, Arts Center, TheSubway, The Museum of Art. aaaaaahhhh simply The best. Quebec City and the Chateau Frontenac are your best bets. Go to the Plains of the Field of Abraham and see where the British beat the French to gain control of th whole of Canada. |
