Travel Tips You should use public transport, because our parking is an absolute nightmare (not even the people who put up the signs understand them). Also it is a walking town, so most of the good stuff is within walking distance. You can buy 3 day passes for bus and metro. To get to Quebec, I would recommend taking a bus -- they are very convenient, run on the hour, and leave from downtown Montreal and drop you right at the foot of Old Quebec. It takes about 2.5-3 hrs. Others Montreal is like driving in a huge city. If you aren't used to it, find another mode of transportation. It is 270km to Quebec city from Montreal. As for getting around IN Montreal, they have a good public transit system with subways. And the roads and other drivers (from my exp.) can be a little treacherous. So public transit is the way to go to get around in Mont. You can use Via Rail trains from Quebec to Montreal, trip takes between 2h 56 and 3h 14, there are four daily trains and you arrive to the Central Station.
