Travel Info If you are immigrating to Montreal with your family when your 16,will any school there accept you in grade 11th(which is da last grade)?Describe Montreal as a place to live. Travel Tips Montreal is the only French/English Bi-Lingual city in the world. You can buy a French baguette,with money showing the Queen of England. You may have a problem with schooling, because most of the schools are in French. The winters are long , and Montreal receives a lot of snow. There is fairly lively night scene, with many discos etc. In the summer , there are many festivals: Jazz, Francofolies, Caribbean-African, anf Comics Festivals. Montreal is a good city if you like the cinema, and in winter it's not far from the ski slopes. There's a fairly good public transport system,with both buses and subway. Good luck with new life. Others If you are a legal resident of Canada, the schools should accept you. Normally (by Quebec law) you would have to go to school in French, but if you have gone to school only in English and just have one year to go, they *may* make an exception (if you want one). 11 is the last year of high school, but after that comes CEGEP which is normally also free and although they don't have to accept you, there's a good chance one will. It used to be that in CEGEP anyone could choose English or French (these would be different schools) but I know some people were trying to change that (so that again the default would be French); I don't know what happened about that. Montreal's great, lots of people think it's too cold in the winter. I don't know where you're from, but chances are you'll be one of them. Its a great place if you are a criminal. montreal as a place to live. you asked the right question to the right person. montreal was rated as the best city in the world to live in. the rest is simple details -- including the winter, the snow and the cold. summer is beautiful and pleasant. it is a multi-cultural city so you see and hear over 100 languages spoken...on major streets. in summer -- almost every day there are festivals. enjoy your stay and welcome. re. your education question --there are many schools your child should apply and their criteria might differ depending on location and supply and demand of their students plus their school standing. here again -- you have to be on the spot to judge and be judged. the same applies to your kids for their schooling. welcome. |
