Photo ID and Birth certificate will be required. It depends on when you are traveling and how you are traveling. by the end of this year, passports will be required for air and sea, then by the end of 2007, passports will be required for land also. For detailed info, look at my source.

yes you need a passport to go to montreal, you dont need to bring a birth certificate if you have a passport. everytime you go out o country you need a passport. i work for the airline so it a must.
because of NAFTA, you will still need to show proof of your US citizenship and the best form of ID is your passport. please remember, when leaving the USA, to always carry the passport at all times.

If you are a Canadian within Canada, no. If you are a US citizen, then proper identification and proof of citizenship needed until 2007. If you any other country yes.
