Travel Info Where should we go out in montreal next saturday, we're 3 english girls visiting? Travel Tips go to the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal, it's the prettiest church in like the entire world! it's also where Celine Dion got married. Others Check out Montreal Nightlife Here http://www.go-montreal.com/night.htm... Anywhere you go will be great! There is such diversity in Montreal you`ll love it. Don`t worry about the language it won`t matter, For the weekend evenings I recommend the more French area clubs/restaurants/shopping and entertainment part of the city (The Plateau, The St-Laurent Main, Quartier Latin, and Rue St-Denis areas) and also the (bi-lingual) Old Montreal historic district (where "The Score" was filmed). The more English clubs/restaurants/entertainmen... (not so much shopping) area, more on the west side of downtown and below McGill University, tends during weekends to be invaded by Americans, many under 21, who come to Montreal to get drunk (the drinking age being, as England's, 3 years younger than the American) and to get laid (Canada is generally and Montreal is particularly very, very libertine) without any language challenges. During the day: again, Old Montreal and rue St-Denis, and Montreal is full of museums. The Oratory is our most famed (both for architecture and for internal artworks) church and functions as our cathedral. There is no section of Montreal that is slummy, even the poorest neighborhoods are well kept up (and comparatively safe). And make sure while you are here to have for one meal a genuine Montreal smoked meat sandwich! The best in my judgement are those at Swartz's, Dunn's and New System restaurants. And I think most enjoyable if bought as take-away, to be eaten while strolling nearby sidewalks (each is located in interesting neighbourhoods). I am a female Montrealer. According to what I have been told by other English girls who have lived over there, go downtown in Montreal. Lots of clubs, bars etc. Open late and lots to do. Very nice city and sounds a lot safer than the UK |
