How is the job market in Montreal? |
Travel Info I am considering moving there for a while. I am from Montreal and when I lived there years ago, I worked in Westmount. I speak a little French, but not fluently. I am a licenced Hairdresser and there are always Salon jobs, but I am considering trying something else. Travel Tips Easy. I have found that the job market here, if you have the right credentials, is a piece of cake. Everyone is hiring in the downtown area. In fact, it seems like the downtown Montreal crowd changes direction on their career path quite a bit. It's easy to switch around different jobs before you find the perfect one. Others The job market in Montreal is terrible. Why don't you try Calgary? There are always retail customer service-type jobs available in Montreal, if that's what you're looking for, but not speaking French will definitely limit you. If you can handle the horrible work environment, then there are also plenty of call centre jobs to go around. They pay well, and you usually don't need to be able to speak French. If you're looking for office-type employment, the fact that you are not fluent in french may be a problem. I say stick with salon work....or, take the ooportunity while you're in Quebec to go back to school and learn a new skill. Cegep is really inexpensive. There are always salon jobs available. Not to worry. |
