From the NorhWestern point of Vermont,USA, How far in miles? |
Travel Info and in travel time could I reach Montreal, Canada. Have any of you made this trip before? I will be driving. Thank you in advance for your answers. Travel Tips Eurotrip Don must have put the wrong VT location into MapQuest; T.J. seems to overlook that the I-89 border crossing is not the NW corner of VT. I do this trip twice each month. The crossing at VT's NW corner is that at Rousses Pt. NY/Lacolle, QC (1/2 mile from the Lake Champlain bridge and VT). That crossing is about 60km (a little less than 40 miles) from Montreal and in dry weather and ice free roads should take about 3/4hr from the Canada customs and immigration post. Also, that crossing post is apt to be far less of a hassle than either of the two nearby Interstate crossings most people use (I-89 from Burlington or I-87 from Albany) which sometimes have lineups and where there is a good chance your car will be searched (I have NEVER been searched at Rousses Point/Lacolle and delayed an extra couple of minutes by extra questions only twice). If you do choose to cross at Rousses Point/Lacolle, here is a country road shortcut from there to the Autoroute (QC Interstate) 15: Take the first left after the Canadian side duty free (only about 200 metres). You will cross a RR track, then there will be two sharp curves. Take your first right. Continue on that road about a kilometre to the 2nd cross-road. That will be QC Rte. 202. Turn left. You will hit Autoroute 15 after two or three kilometres more. Have a nice trip. Others According to Mapquest, 97 miles and 1 hour, 51 minutes. http://www.mapquest.com Well, when I lived in Burlington, it was about 45 minutes to the border, and I think about 2 hours to Montreal. If you're already at the border, maybe 90 minutes. I've made the trip. Montreal's a fun place. Enjoy! |
