First, you have to find away just across the border to the Windor, Ont. train station (there is no cross-border train from Detroit).

From there, Windsor has several trains each day to Toronto. From the same station in Toronto, there are about 6 trains per day to Montreal.

It's already been indicated that you can find your own way across the border. However the train service thereafter is reasonable and actually the Toronto to Montreal leg is quite good.
