Lodging/Accomodations for a teen/minor in Montreal? (alone)?

Travel Info
Greetings,

My father booked a non-refundable round trip flight to Montreal for me, for Spring Break. I was going to get my father to book me a hotel, but realized that the minimum check-in age is 18 or 21 depending on the hotel. Since I'm travelling alone and I'm only 16, booking a hotel is out of the question. I've looked at some Youth Hostels, but I couldn't find any information regarding the minimum check-in age. Do any youth hostels in Montreal (preferably with private rooms) allow a minor (16 year old) to check in and stay alone? If not, what other options would there be, other than sleeping on the cold, dangerous streets? The booking and payments will be done by my father, so what's stopping me is the check-in restriction

Thanks in advance!

I just answered your other question. My goodness are you (apparently) soooooo American. Where did you get the impression that you would have check in problems, especially if your father has guaranteed the room payment? This is Canada, for God's sake -- believe it or not we have more freedom and liberty for all than Americans have and younger people are given more latitudes to make good judgements (the age of consent here is 14 - 12 if the partner is no more than 14 - THAT should give you a clue).

What I would however advise is that your father certainly inform the hotel and lodgings of your age when reservation is made and that he add you to one of his credit card accounts (the one he uses to hold the room) and get you your own card, if he has not already done so.

The principal youth hostal is located in the near west side of downtown, which I describe in my Answer to your other Question.
If I were to advise you where to stay for the best Montr茅al experience and not just to meet other kids for spring break wild I would tell your father to find a room in one of the many European style small h么tels converted from early 1900s homes in the more French part west side, in an area called Quartier Latin. You'll be right on the m茅tro and near the heart of the true spirit of Montr茅al and within walking or short m茅tro distances of the shops, restaurants, music and dance clubs and other cosmopolitan things of the Plateau/St. Denis Street/Ontario Street/St. Laurent Street (nicknamed "The Main")/Duluth Street areas.
