Travel Info
I saw this pic on the web titled IGA Grocery Store in Montreal. I figured it must be mislabeled but what is it?

Travel Tips
Yes, it IS sort of mislabeled. It is not in Montreal at all. It is in Whistler, BC. A ski resort in the mountains north of Vancouver, BC. It talks about this being in the ski village, like a park nearby the IGA.

Others
IGA grocery store is a full service grocery outlet that is franchised by Sobeys of Canada who own the name and business.Sobeys is a large chain of such stores all across Canada with over 1,300 in number. It owns IGA, Foodland, Price Chopper and of course all Sobeys stores themselves.
They originated in Stellerton, Nova Scotia and have grown to a complete cross Canada chain over the last 20 years. Their combined revenue is in excess of $15 billion and profit last year was $302 million. The Sobey family also own many large shopping malls in the eastern provinces and also a chain of theaters called Empire. The parent company is Empire Inc.and its stock is public. You can look it all up of their web site.
I.G.A. stands for Independent Grocers Association.
that is my house...IGA is like safeway
That is not an IGA grocery store. IGA is a big grocery chain just like any other.
IGA stands for the Independent Grocers Association. They are a chain of supermarkets, like Price Chopper or Safeway.

As for the virtual tourist, either someone mislabelled it or is trying to get people to check out their website, just like all these other spammers that are saying "If you want to know more about that subject, go to this url..."
IGA is a NORMAL grocery store. With fruits, vegetables, meat, ect.
IGA is a equivalent of Key-Food in the USA. They have in common the fact that they are very expensive. If you have a large family, be ready to spend a lot of money.
