What is it with drivers ignoring school zone crosswalks in montreal? |
Travel Info Do they need to hit someone to realize what the crosswalk is for Travel Tips Sad, but true. I drive 80km a day back and forth to work, and I am by no means innocent...my foot gets a bit heavy on the gas pedal and am almost always 10-20km over the limit, mainly on the highway. But I always try to be careful around parks, school zones, and pretty much obey all the other rules of the road. However, I see drivers in Quebec not only ignoring school crosswalks but running red lights (not just turning yellow to red, but actually red for a second or two already!), doing rolling stops, and exiting the highway by flying across from the passing lanes through three lanes of traffic. I was recently in New York City and I can tell you, I think we Quebecers can give some of those NYC cabbies a run for their money. Others not just mtl. happens all over.. I understand your concern, while I lived in Montreal I found them to be very reckless..now in Toronto it is somewhat better. GET USED TO IT...there is nothing that will change montrealers driving attitudes...hell i didnt even know what those lines on the floor were for! Pedestrians should just stay out of the way. Welcome to life. |
