Vaccinations? |
Travel Info I've just booked a last minute holiday to morocco, and that website recommends that you take the vaccinations 4 weeks in advance. They can't stop you going if you haven't had then, can they? Travel Tips http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/travel/africa... If you look at the list of vaccinations some are starred and some are not. At the bottom, it says starred ones are strongly reccommended. Vaccinations are only reccommended not compulsary. I went ot Malaysia 4 years ago for my honeymoon. In the excitement of all the wedding, I didn't even think about jabs! Others well you obviously have money it dont mean **** if you get a virus you may die because you toooo impatient ...gl i would not risk it! they cant no, but they recommend it for a reason... how long before you travel? as its still worth getting them if you have time. phone your gp surgery asap and just explain the situation, they will advise you best. Morocco does not check your vaccination record and so will not stop you on this ground. However, if you have to assess the risk of catching something against the time and effort of having the vaccination. Given that several vaccinations (with their boosters if necessary), such as Hepatitis and Tetanus, will protect you for 10 years, it seems rather ridiculous not to take them. (Especially when you consider that Testanus and one of the Hepatitus shots is free in the UK and the other Hepatitus shot is less than GB拢20 and you're at risk for both if you just merely cut yourself). I've found the two best websites for UK residents are http://www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk/... and http://www.masta.org/. The NHS is provides a good free summary of the country but MASTA provides more detail and covers egions within the country i.e. it tells you where in the country you are likely to catch something. There are no required vaccinations for Morocco. Although several are highly recommended, Hepatitis A is the only one that I would consider seriously taking, even if you're only going on a package holiday to Agadir - since Hep A can be transmitted through food, and food can carry the risk anywhere. But no, they cannot stop you, as no vaccinations are actually required for entry into Morocco. No one checked my vaccinations record when I moved here, but if they had they would have seen that I had Hepatitis A, typhoid and polio vaccinations before I came here. Tenatus is also recommented if you have not had one recently, and any other regular immuniztion that you may need updating on. If your are from a "western country", you won't need vaccination in Marocco |
