Is it hard to get around Morocco without a guide/tour? |
Travel Info Is it hard to get around Morocco without a guide/tour? Travel Tips It really depends on what region you want to see. If you want to stay in the cities you really don't need a tour guide. If you are interested in seeing some smaller places a little off the beaten path you will probably want a guide. If you are in the north (Marrakesh and north of that) getting around on your own is a bit easier as the highways are better up there and there is a train that runs (Marrakesh, Casa, Rabat, Fez...). South of Marrakesh there is not a train system so it is either bus, taxi or rental car. I want to say do it on your own it would be more fun but I live here and find getting around quite easy, you may not. I do hope you have fun either way :) Others Personally, I don't think so, but as Sarah T said, it depends on where you're visiting. Amongst the popular tourist areas, the only place I'd consider hiring a guide is in Fez - the medina is hard to navigate, and if you don't have a lot of time, you'll miss some great sights. If you want to go trekking or visit the dunes you may want a guide to help you out. Yes it is ! unless you speak French or Arabic fluently , if it's not your case you should rather use a guide it'd help you a lot! |
