Morocco/ Spain? |
Travel Info Does anyone know how easy it is to get across the Moroccan/ Spain border. I am a US citizen with a valid passport. It would be my sister and I. I am 21 she is 24. Also any ideas on things that just MUST be seen in Morocco? Travel Tips It's fairly easy to get across the border with a U.S. passport. In Spain, they have long-term parking where you could park your rental car until you come back. It's about a 30-minute ferry ride (nauseating, but otherwise pleasant). When you get to Morocco, cab drivers are going to try to compete for your business. They're annoying but not only will they take you to your destination, they'll also get you through customs. At the customs area, they're going to try to make you pay extra money because you're an American, but if you have a local with you he'll argue with them on your behalf. When we went 5 years ago, this was the most annoying part of the trip (we had to wait in the cab while the driver struck a deal with the customs people). It was much less of a headache on the way back. If you are not traveling with a guy, I would stick to the bigger touristy cities (although some of the smaller villages are very beautiful). Also, if you could stop by Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco I think it'll be worth your while. If you don't know French and Spanish, be sure to have French and Spanish dictionaries with you when you go. Although the official language of the country is Arabic, the people seemed to speak a mixture of French and Spanish. Have a great trip! Source(s): went to Spain and Morocco 5 years ago Other Travel Tips It is not difficult to travel to Morocco. I have done it and I know that the Spanish students at our local school travel to Spain and cross into Morocco on their summer trip, so you should not have a problem. The last time I was in Morocco, however, was about 3 years ago, I don't know if things have changed. Please be respectful of the Moroccan culture when you go. Try to cover up and respect their customs. This will help you to get along! Also, I hope you are going with at least one man in your party, simply because it will be easier for you to get along with people. If you respect them, they will be more friendly to you, and you will not have to pay as much for things. My husband and I had a wonderful time the last time we went, and I hope you have a fantastic time too. Hope this helps Go to a travel site that give information on attractions... Or just google " morocco attractions" No problem whatsoever SW. All you need to bring when you take a ferry is your US passport. And a pen, because you will need to fill out a small document on the ferry. Enjoy Morocco. It is lovely. Cross once a month from Algeciras to Tangier Very easy. You just take the ferry, fill out a card on the way, and make sure you get up quickly when the ferry arrives, because it's a mad push for the exit once it does. My must-see list includes Marrakesh, at least one Atlantic beach town (favorites are Asilah and Essaouira), and the Middle Atlas area. But it all depends on how long you have in the country and what you're interested in. You might also enjoy a trip to the Sahara. |
