Travel Tips There aren't any gay clubs per se, but there are a couple in Marrakech which are known for attracting gay Europeans. Diamant Noir is one in Marrakech that (my straight Moroccan husband says) is gay - apparently he went with another straight friend and left pretty quickly. Pacha is not a gay club, but the Moroccan boys who work there (and dance there) are questionably gay. Anyhow, you'll feel comfortable there. You may want to head to Tangier, which was historically a gay-friendly area (when it was the Interzone) - read some Paul Bowles and you'll understand. Ignore those who are discouraging - Morocco might be a Muslim country, but it's also got a gay scene. You should be careful though - and be forewarned that Moroccan guys in gay clubs are often prostitutes (and not actually gay). No, "Matt S," I'm just telling it like it is. Morocco might be a Muslim country, but that doesn't mean it has no scene. Although it's a bad idea to advertise or flaunt the fact that you're gay, lots of foreigners do. And being Muslim doesn't mean that someone can't be gay. Besides, there ARE gay clubs - maybe that's what the person wants to hear, but a lot of gay folks patronize those particular clubs! Others The bandy Camel. I have been 15 times now and have not seen or heard of any gay club, bar or even space. Then again, sometimes it seems the whole of Morocco is one big gay club. Not sure though if what they start flirting with is an attractive guy or a walking dollar sign. You'll find out :) if uare a gay dont come , stay there where u are,and go to a doctor to benormal. What she said about gays usually being prostitutes is true though. There can't be a "Gay club" like the ones in Europe and US because it would be too dangerous. Do not flaunt your homosexuality or tell anyone that you are gay, even friends. There are virtually no openly gay people in Morocco... and there is a reason... |
