Have you ever gone from Morocco to Mauritania? |
Travel Info for my two months of holidays, i'm planing to spend july in Morocco, but for august i wanna do a quick tour in west africa, going from morocco through mauritania to senegal, and mali then to guinea and back trough guinea bissau, then senegal till morocco, but the going from a country to another will be by train or autobus... ( as i won't have my car), as i heard it's easy to go from a city to another in west africa, but not from Morocco to mauritania. has anyone ever gone from morocco to mauritania on the road? are there mains of transport ? is it secure to do the trip? what are the formalities needed? i will be pleased by your help and advices Thanks Travel Tips I haven't but know a lot of folks who have (a good blog on this is here: http://deeper-in2-west-africa.blogspot.c... Here's how it works from Morocco to Mauritania - If you're Caucasian and have an EU/UK/US (maybe AUS too) passport, you can apply for your Mauritanian visa in Morocco, I believe. Getting from Morocco down through the W. Sahara (governed by Morocco) then to Mauritania is difficult but not impossible. There are currently no buses, but you can join someone else's 4x4 or caravan in Ad-Dakhla (W. Sahara/Morocco) It is fairly secure, assuming you get in with someone who has experience on the roads. You will probably be stopped at all the checkpoints and asked a lot of questions, but you don't need to worry about land mines or anything. The formalities - Mauritanian visa, don't know what after that. You don't need a visa to pass from Morocco to the Western Sahara territory, as it is considered part of Morocco (by Moroccans, that is) |
