Travel Tips
I never went to Casablanca, but from what I heard I tend to agree with the previous poster. Rabat is by far the most "European" city in Morocco. You can visit the Oudaia Kasbah, the Mohammed V mausoleum and the Chellah necropolis which is a beautiful ruined fortress with some old tombs in a gorgeous garden.

If you drive towards Tangiers, you could stop in the lovely coast town of Asilah, which has a beautiful medina and an old Portuguese fort (and where you can buy nice ladies' Moroccan shoes for 10 euros the pair - my girlfriend got 10 pairs!).

In Tangiers I also went to Hercules' grotto and the nearby Cap Spartel which is a nice viewing point over the Atlantic especially at sunset. Tangier itself is not that great, but it has by far the best restaurant scene in the region.

It would maybe be worthwhile taking a detour to Tetouan (~70 km / 45 mi) from Tangiers. Tetouan has the biggest and most authentic medina (UNESCO World Heritage monument) with a spectacular (and stinky) tanners' section. Another good destination in the region is Chefchaouen (or Chauen in Spanish), which is a nice natural setting in the Rif mountains, with a beautiful medina and an interesting kasbah (fortress) in the main square.

Also, you might want to visit the beautiful (and usually empty) beaches on the Gibraltar Strait, which you can access from the road from Tangiers to Ceuta. The view of the Rock of Gibraltar on the other side is quite nice.

Things to avoid:

*when driving, beware of Moroccan drivers in general, as they can be quite unpredictable. Beware of pedestrians crossing the motorway (esp. around Rabat). In towns, beware of pedestrians (esp. old ladies) coming off the sidewalk into the street without looking.

*do not have anything to do with guys trying to sell you "chocolate" (=hash) especially around Chefchaouen, which is the capital of the cannabis-growing region. They are quite likely to have police connections and if you buy from them you might be caught up by police later on.

*beware of "guides" who offer to show you the medinas. Be rude to them if you must, just get rid of them.

Ive been to Tanger, Loved it. Go see the Grotto of Hercules...not a big deal, but a neat ocean side cave. U can go to the 'point' where the Med mets the Atlantic, Great place at sunset. There are alot of things to do per se, just a neat city to have tea on the sidewalk cafe, meet local people, do some shopping....im actually thinking of living in Tanger for awhile to study Arabic. Just be careful with cab drivers/guides etc. If you speak French or even Spanish it helps Alot. Have a safe trip/
Tangier and Casa are two of the most disliked cities (by tourists) in Morocco, although I personally like the former.

Tangier - Eat at the port - a delicious fried fish plate is only 20dh, though the surroundings aren't necessarily so nice. El Hafa is a famous cafe where the Rolling Stones used to go; you have to take a taxi there though. The Grand Socco and Petit Socco are of course, must-sees (the grand socco was recently redone, and the Cinematheque du Tanger is incredible - check it out - formerly Cinema Rif)

I really don't like Casa at all, why not go to Rabat instead? Still, if you go, be sure to see the Hassan II Mosque, the Corniche (if you like beaches and oceanside stuff), and the tiny medina. The Twin Towers are also interesting to me for some reason.
Don't drink the water or have ice cubes in your drink
Yes, just make sure the Mc Canns aren`t in town. you won`t get any peace and they will fleece you for every last dime in your pocket.
