Morocco-Wedding cost? |
Travel Info How many dirahms does a typical moroccan wedding cost? when i say typical i mean about 100 people, in casablanca, nice but not ridiculously extravagent. thanks :) Travel Tips There are SO many factors involved that it is almost impossible to put a price on a wedding in Morocco, as it would be anyplace in the world. My Moroccan wedding was traditional in MOST ways, but we did exclude some things. I had 50-60 guests; 4 dresses (two were owned, two were rented); two women were brought into cook the food; cakes and candies were ordered from bakeries; women came in to do my hair, make up and dress changes; it was video-graphed professionally but the music and pics were done by friends; chairs, tables and glasses were rented; jewelry was rented to match the dresses; some clothing was purchased for my husband and I (shoes etc); the price of the adoul; dates milk and much tea were served; flowers were bought etc... Our wedding was $1000-1400 and it was done inside our home. It was traditional, but downsized and limited to one evening of celebrating. Others I don't know. But you're going to have all your guests go to Morocco? Do you live there? Hi it depends....100 for one day? or for the full 3 day ceremony? There are Alot of other factors, be more specific and maybe i can help with a better answer. thousand maybe more No such thing as a typical wedding! And anyhow, Moroccans tend to overspend on weddings just like Americans do...an article a few weeks ago in TelQuel discussed this very subject. Still, a Moroccan wedding usually includes certain standards: -Catered several course meal (first mini-bstila, then a tajine plate for each table, and fruit or desserts afterward). I have no idea how much the catering costs, but it's typical to serve food, so budget for this. You could do the cooking yourselves, which would lower the cost significantly. -Several changes of clothes for the bride (7 is traditional I think, but 3 is more typical) - you can rent or buy them - if you buy, the average caftan costs from about 700 dirhams and up. -Photographer (not that expensive, and it could be cheaper to buy a digital camera! Or just hand out disposable cameras to guests then collect them at the door). -DJ - you can find someone to do this cheap - ask around, certainly someone's cousin will do it for 500dh! -Of course, the location! Lots of weddings are in private homes, but with 100 people, you'll probably need to rent a space, which can be outrageously expensive. Perhaps 5,000dh? I really don't know, I'm not in Casa. I've been to a bunch of weddings - some offer gifts to guests, some don't. Still, these are inexpensive - often just a small toy or figurine with almonds or sugar. I'd say from what I've mentioned, you could manage to do the wedding for 15,000dh perhaps. We just had a party for 50 at home, without catering (we just served sweets and cake) and I borrowed my clothes - it probably cost around 5,000dh total. 100 persons need 10 tables . A menu of pastilla with sea food, half mechoui, ice cream, fruits cost 300 $ for each table= 3,000$ Tents , decor, location, services: 1,000$ to 2,000$ Orchestra:500 to 1,000$ Neggafa: 700$ Suits : 1,000$ Other:1,000$ Total : 8,000 $ to 10,000$ |
