Is Morocco worth a visit at Christmas / New Year time, or is too COLD, WET, etc? |
Travel Info My fiancee and I are thinking to take our honeymoon over the New Year in Morocco, visiting Marrakesh, the Atlas Mountains, Fez, maybe the coast, would like to do a desert trek, but probably not go to the far south. Is it alright that time of year, or too cold? We're not expecting baking heat or anything, just want to chill out, see some stuff, etc... but will find somewhere else if it's going to be miserable! Any clues? Thank you! Travel Tips Morocco is GREAT! But you probably would want to stick to the south if you were to go in the winter....at least that is what it seems from the answers I got here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... it depends what your used to and what you are willing to put up with weather wise. Anyway, you'll be on your honeymoon--I am sure you will find something to do to keep warm at night! ;) best wishes EDIT: By the way, I've seen sumankhs' other posts and she is anti-Muslim so it is no surprise she didn't like Morocco and would advise against it. Others i cant pretend to know the climate by time of year, but its a great place. the people are so friendly. just go. the weather cant be worse than UK weather, can it? good choice My advise is to choose another destination rather than Morroco. Believe me you will not regret it! I went there for a week and it isn't fun. Depending on where you reside and your budget, choosing somewhere more lively would be worth your while. I would definitely recommend Germany in July or if you'r a beach freak, visit Panama, Malta, Italy, etc... Wish you good fun and relaxation! My wife and I went to Morocco for our wedding anniversary (15th Jan) and had a great time. We did 5 nights in Marrakech www.darattajmil.com and 2 nights on the coast in Essaouira (Madada Mogador). It was great and we went back this year, and we'll probably make it an annual trip. It's warm during the day, can be chilly at night, and it might rain for parts of the week, but there are also clear skies, and any kind of sun feels good in January! It's not 'beach' hot though if that's what you're looking for, just pleasant. Great idea! Marrakesh is typically pleasant (50s Fahrenheit) in the winter, with little rain, but Fez and the Middle Atlas can be horrendous at that time. Personally, if I were you, I'd stick to the southern parts of the country, which will be quite nice at that time. I second the recommendation to stick with the south in winter. There is this GREAT resort about 30 km south of Agadir called Ksar Massa. I can't imagine a better place for a honeymoon than this resort. They do not allow hundreds of guests at a time. It is a bit private and so pretty. Check out there site http://www.ksarmassa.com/ Really I don't work there, lol, I just know it is a very nice resort and if it had been open when I got married I would of loved to stay there. Taradount and Sahara excursions are within a reasonable distance away in my opinion. one piece of advice! Go for it you'll love. The nights can be a bit chilly, but usually the weather is great during daytime.Besides there are so many things to do,so many monuments to see..:) I LOVE MOROCCO,anytime of the year, each season has its own charm. Congratulations and enjoy ur honeymoon :) |
