This might sound silly but me and my friend are not agreeing on this. Is mumbai really a south indian city or is it a north indian city? Please don't give me links for the maps or wikipedia. Thanks in advance.

Mumbai is in west India, or you can say west-central india. One correction for Mack, Mumbai is not in Gujrat state but in Mahashtra state.
